Planning & Scheduling

Planning & Scheduling

Planning & Scheduling facility services cuts waste!

THE STATUS QUO MAY FEEL NORMAL, BUT IF YOU’RE NOT PLANNING & SCHEDULING CORRECTIVE MAINTENANCE, YOU HAVE A HUGE AND STEALTHY MONEY LEAK

SCENARIO

STATUS QUO

The VP creates a work request to repair a minor problem in the men’s restroom. Maintenance sends a craftsman immediately to investigate. The craftsman makes a list of necessary parts. The craftsman makes a trip to the warehouse to see if the parts are in inventory. They’re not. The craftsman drives across town to the supply house, purchases the parts, and drives back across town. He installs the parts. No one considers that three other projects were put on hold while the craftsman was running errands.

LIKE A BUSINESS

The VP contacts the planner/scheduler to repair a minor problem in the men’s restroom. The planner goes on-line to FVM and reviews work histories of problem. He immediately understands the scope of the work, plans, and schedules the project. He notes the required part is in a locked cabinet with a specialized tool for the install. He schedules the work to fit in to available resource schedules. Craftsman makes repair. Craftsman immediately moves to next scheduled project.

WHY PLANNING & SCHEDULING VS STATUS QUO

STATUS QUO

Huge losses of efficiency hit your bottom line with unnecessary costs

Work takes longer to complete

You can’t evaluate trends nor the effectiveness of workers

LIKE A BUSINESS

By combining planning/scheduling with a centralized on-line system, workers move efficiently from project to project.

Projects are not scheduled unless all parts and tools are available for use by workers.

If business as usual means you’re wasting money, then it is time to walk away from the status quo and start running your facility like a business

The planner uses Facility Value Manager to review work histories, inventories and special parts needs, and room and site availability to complete the work.

The facility planner/scheduler efficiently keeps worker ‘turning wrenches,’ drastically reduces hidden costs and inefficiencies and increases facility user satisfaction because work is performed quickly.
